Aboutthe role
School Governanceplays a vital role in the education of young people. The role of a School Governor is tocontribute to the work of the Governing Body in ensuring the highest possible standardsof achievement for all students by:
§ - Ensuringclarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
§ - Holdingschool leaders to account for the educational performance of the school and itsstudents, and the performance management of staff
§ - Askingprobing questions of school leaders
§ - Monitoringand evaluating the progress the school is making towards the achievement of itsaims and objectives
§ - Ensuringall students have access to a broad and balanced curriculum
§ - Overseeingthe financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spentand accounted for
§ - Actingas a link Governor on specific areas within the school, making relevant enquiresof staff and reporting to the governing body.
