About The Role

We are passionate about promoting social inclusion for people living with dementia. We are looking for volunteers that will support people living with dementia to attend and participate in local pre-arranged social activities/groups.

This role will be crucial in helping people to stay connected and engaged with their communities and reduce social isolation.

We are looking for volunteers to support people living with a dementia diagnosis at community activities throughout the Borough of Rotherham. These may be luncheon clubs, activity groups and community events where they can meet new friends and become less socially isolated. The expectation would be to support them at a couple of activities each month.

This is a great opportunity to support people living with a dementia diagnosis to get out and about in the community and access local facilities and groups. For further information, please email [email protected] or telephone 01709 580543.

This role will be subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Criminal Records Check from either the Disclosure and Barring Service (England & Wales), Disclosure Scotland Check (Scotland) or AccessNI (Northern Ireland). You'll be great for the role if you:

  • Have an interest in developing meaningful relationships and making a real difference.
  • Are committed to supporting people living with and affected by dementia to remain active in their local communities.
  • Can demonstrate empathy, compassion and patience.
  • Have good listening and communication skills.
  • You are aware of or are willing to learn about dementia and its impact on people.
