Job Description

We're recruiting for a Communications Planning Managerto join us. You will be responsible for building a more strategic approach to our communications activity by implementing and overseeing effective planning and evaluation across the function. The function brings together our Group external communications, employee communications, brand, sustainability, social media and public affairs teams

What you'll be doing:

  • Planning: Develop and oversee a communications planning and prioritisation process that enables Corporate Affairs and Divisional Employee Communications teams to effectively identify, develop, and plan communications activity across multiple audiences. To include the creation and delivery of regular activity and insight reports for key stakeholders
  • Evaluation: Developing and implementing a Group-wide measurement framework to ensure all communication activity is properly evaluated. Responsible for driving and setting best practice for evaluation and identifying areas of improvement. Establishing regular reporting to enable insight-led communications planning and content development
  • Improving standards: Advising colleagues on good practice, methodologies and platforms for communications planning & measurement, providing support to upskill and improve our Group-wide capability
  • Incident support: Supporting the Director of Employee Communications, Strategy & Planning in ensuring our incident response protocols are regularly reviewed and updated to support quick and effective decision-making during an incident and providing co-ordination support during incidents when needed
  • Communications strategy & planning: Supporting across Corporate Affairs to co-ordinate and develop communications strategies and plans for significant Group-wide projects
  • Stakeholder management and influencing: With responsibility for driving cross-team projects, you will build relationships with key stakeholders, keeping them up to date, assimilating feedback, and co-ordinating content and activity across multiple teams where appropriate
  • Consumer Duty accountabilities: Designing and developing assets and concepts that meet the needs, characteristics and objectives of identified target audiences. Tailoring communications assets to take into account the characteristics of the audience intended to receive them - including any characteristics of vulnerability, the complexity of concepts, the communication channel used and the role of the firm

Qualifications

Who we're looking for:

  • Considerable experience working in a communications discipline (external or internal) and solid understanding of evaluation and planning principles, and the role they can play in effective communications
  • Experience of planning, delivering, reviewing, and evaluating communications programs that have delivered excellent results
  • Knowledge of evaluation, and how to use insights to enable effective communications delivery
  • Strong project management skills and experience in motivating a team to meet deadlines
  • Able to lead, motivate and inspire colleagues to achieve a goal and deliver a project to time
  • Strategic thinking combined with problem-solving abilities: able to deliver across a complex, matrixed organisation
  • Flexibility and adaptability with changing priorities and client demands
  • Familiarity with industry trends, best practices and emerging technologies measurement and planning
