Communications Manager (Better Health & Care Futures)

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

About Us

King's College London is a leading University with nine Faculties. As part of King's Health Partners , we have an excellent environment for health care interaction and a strong focus on mentoring and career development.

The newly established King's Better Health & Care Futures (BHCF) initiative harnesses activities across the faculties of King's College London, a world-leading centre in applied health and care research and education. The 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF2021) placed King's applied and allied health research 1st for research rated 4* (world-leading, the highest possible mark) in research papers, impact, and environment. Over 95% of our research overall was rated as world-leading or internationally excellent.

For the last six years, King's has been number 2 in the world and number 1 in Europe for Nursing (QS world rankings). King's produces more highly cited research outputs (top 1% citations) on palliative care than any other centre internationally (SciVal), and is second in the world on the same metric for nursing and midwifery. King's is the largest provider of health care education in Europe.

The Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care (NMPC) is based in the heart of central and south London. It includes the Cicely Saunders Institute for Palliative Care, Policy & Rehabilitation , the premier Institute for Palliative Care, bringing together clinical, research and education teams.

Led by the NMPC, in partnership with co-Directors from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience and the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy, the newly established King's Better Health & Care Futures (BHCF) aims to revolutionise health and care solutions. This initiative spans all faculties and is dedicated to pioneering novel, evidence-based approaches in community care, co-production, and self-care, as well as developing leaders equipped to tackle global health and care challenges.

King's BHCF will focus on addressing the needs of individuals with complex illnesses and multimorbidity, where the value of care is often suboptimal. By establishing a multi- and inter-disciplinary research and education centre, it will emphasize care for children and adults with complex conditions, support their families, and enhance the skills of healthcare professionals. This centre will be a hub for innovative research and education, fostering collaboration across disciplines to improve health outcomes and care practices on a global scale.

We are committed to staff development, and offer opportunities to identify and access appropriate training and professional growth.
