Communications Manager

Job Purpose

This role would be best suited to somebody currently or recently working in PR, Communications and Marketing.

The primary aims and objectives of the role will be to:

  • Drive our brand forward as we continue to grow and diversify
  • Raise profile and awareness of the brand in the insurance and legal industries
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and the media
  • Maximise media coverage
  • Increase followers and engagement across social channels
  • Be alert to industry news and produce relevant engaging external communications content; print, digital and social
  • Manage and organise events

Reporting directly to the Head of Brand & Communications you will effectively manage the production and distribution of external communications, events, media relations and brand marketing. This role is primarily B2B but does contain small elements of B2C marketing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on communications to achieve engagement with audiences and raise awareness of the company's services and values,
  • Support the business in delivering its commercial objectives,
  • Proactively identify and maximise media and marketing opportunities,
  • Maintain and build on relationships with the media and other relevant stakeholders,
  • Daily management of processes to implement PR and marketing initiatives through public relations and communications planning and delivery,
  • Plan, manage and liaison in relation to external industry events attended by the Group, from invitations to delivery,
  • Plan, manage and day to day organisation of events planned for external parties and industry,
  • Writing and editing copy and corporate statements, press releases, contributed stories, presentations and other PR materials to sell into national, business/B2B media across print, broadcast and digital platforms,
  • Researching and evaluating opportunities for senior personnel to speak at industry events including conferences, roundtables, webinars, and trade shows; managing sponsorship requirements and preparatory materials for spokespeople such as briefing documents and presentations; attend events in support as and when required,
  • Plan, manage the day-to-day running, create content and copy of the corporate website and social media platforms,
  • Report verbally and in reports the key PR and marketing successes and updates to the Board and wider business,
  • Report on and monitor social media analytics and website performance via Google analytics,
  • Ensure our media and marketing is aligned with brand, tone and messaging,
  • Monitor and evaluate marketing and event spend,
  • Ownership of event and content calendar,
  • Work effectively with external consultancies on delivering the company's objectives as needed

Experience and Knowledge

  • Proven experience in an in-house and/or agency corporate communications role,
  • Qualification in PR, Communications, Marketing, or equivalent course desirable but not necessary,
  • Proven experience in generating media coverage and maintaining/ developing excellent relationships with media contacts,
  • Proven experience in event management,
  • Experience of the legal and/or insurance sectors is not essential, but would be a definite bonus,
  • Proven experience in creating content for print and digital media, corporate websites (SEO optimised) and managing and creating content for social media platforms (primarily X and LinkedIn) and communicating with a range of stakeholders,
  • Excellent IT skills, including MS Office, website, and social media platforms,
  • Experience in using Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator),
  • Experience in designing, creating and editing marketing collateral,
  • Excellent written English skills with the ability to write, edit and proof to a very high standard,
  • Be a positive, high achiever with an ability to get things done and who takes pride in their professional output
  • The ability to adapt quickly, establish credibility and maintain strong working relationships at all levels in a pro-active manner,
  • Capable of planning and prioritising to multiple deadlines to manage diverse stakeholder expectations,
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail with the ability to work as a member of team and on own initiative,
  • Continually seeks to improve and innovate to deliver competitive advantage in an environment of change.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a B2B role and/or a highly regulated environment,
  • Previous experience in using Umbraco,
  • Video creation and editing of reels.
