Job Purpose

As the Global Communications Director, you will lead our global communications strategy, enhancing our brand's reputation, driving engagement, and effectively positioning the organization's mission and vision on a global scale. You will be responsible for overseeing public relations, external communications, internal communications, and employee engagement across regions, working closely with the PLC board, Executive Committee, and cross-functional teams. You will ensure that communications align with business objectives, support cultural cohesion, and inspire confidence in our purpose among internal and external stakeholders. An option to include global marketing and EDI (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) responsibilities may be considered based on experience and alignment.

  1. Global Public Relations & External Communications
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive global PR strategy to enhance brand reputation and visibility in key markets.
  • Act as the company spokesperson and build strong media relationships to drive positive media coverage.
  • Oversee crisis communication and issues management, safeguarding the organization's brand in challenging situations.
  • Create and distribute press releases, whitepapers, and other external communication materials aligned with corporate goals and industry trends.
  1. Internal Communications & Employee Engagement
  • Lead the internal communications strategy to ensure consistent, transparent messaging and high engagement among employees globally.
  • Partner with People Team and other departments to implement engagement initiatives that foster a strong organizational culture and alignment with corporate values.
  • Design and deliver leadership communication plans to increase visibility and accessibility of senior leaders to all staff.
  • Measure and report on internal communication effectiveness, adjusting strategies as needed.
  1. Executive Communications & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate with the PLC Board, Executive Committee, and other internal leaders to align communications strategies with corporate objectives.
  • Support executive communication needs, including speechwriting, presentations, and thought leadership content.
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders, including industry partners, investors, and regulatory bodies, to drive engagement and support strategic business goals.
  1. Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work with Legal, Finance, People Team, Company Secretary, and other internal functions to ensure communication initiatives comply with regulations and are aligned with organizational policies.
  • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives to ensure cohesive, brand-aligned messaging across all communication channels.

Optional Additional Responsibilities:

  • Global Marketing: Lead or collaborate on global marketing efforts, including brand strategy, content marketing, and digital outreach, to support business growth and brand positioning.
  • Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI): Champion EDI initiatives in communications strategy, ensuring inclusive representation and messaging across all global communications and supporting a diverse and equitable workplace culture.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Partner with department heads and leadership teams to establish learning needs and priorities.
  • Foster relationships with external training providers and educational institutions to enhance offerings.

Budget Management:

  • Prepare and manage the budget for communication and engagement initiatives.
  • Ensure the effective allocation of resources to maximize impact.

Reporting and Analytics:

  • Track and report on communication and engagement metrics to assess program effectiveness and uptake.
  • Use analytics to inform future strategies and initiatives.

Experience

  • Experience:
  • Experience in corporate communications, PR, or related roles, ideally in a global or multi-national organization. Experience in education technology, digital platforms, or PLC companies is preferred.
  • Leadership:
  • Proven experience managing communications teams across multiple geographies, with strong skills in team development, leadership, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Communications Expertise:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in crafting executive-level content and managing media relations.
  • Strategic Vision:
  • Ability to develop and execute large-scale communication strategies that drive engagement and enhance brand reputation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Skilled in working with diverse functions, with the ability to bridge gaps and foster cohesive strategies.
  • Optional Marketing and EDI experience:
  • Experience in global marketing strategy or EDI program leadership is a plus.
