Job Description

The Commercial Manager (Information & Technology) role at Heathrow involves supporting the airport's vision of providing the best airport service by creating and executing procurement strategies for Information & Technology. This includes managing strategic sourcing activities, defining procurement processes, and engaging with the external market to maximize value delivery, minimize risk, and deliver benefits through cost savings, revenue generation, or improved airport operations.

Responsibilities

  • Managing strategic sourcing activities for large value, complex programs and projects.
  • Defining and running procurement processes to support capital project activities.
  • Administering a robust commercial management process to realise maximum benefit from contract while driving a safety agenda and collaborative mindset with the supply chain and stakeholder;
  • Engaging with the external market on procurement/commercial matters.
  • Taking responsibility for supplier management, cost and contract management, benefits and savings, and continuous improvement targets.

Qualifications

  • Evidence of working as a trusted procurement advisor on change best practice and delivering procurement solutions with different contracting models e.g. Framework and call -off contracts, or NEC.
  • Experience of working on Information & Technology programmes or projects, and interfacing with programme and project managers, planners, risk managers and project controls; to meet business objectives and affordability targets.
  • Experience in creatively and innovatively driving solutions for change initiatives across multiple stakeholders and categories, ensuring best value for money and compliance with procurement processes.
  • Prior experience of engaging with the external market on procurement matters e.g., new commercial models, market shifts, new product offerings, innovation, and trends, bringing back best practices and lead initiatives to embed them within the operations.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior leaders & peers (internal/external) through creative commercial models, market leading innovation to drive competitive edge for the business through robust procurement strategy.

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • Professional qualifications e.g., CIPS,MRICS, APM or can demonstrate equivalent capability and experience
  • Understanding of Aviation, Security Assets, or exposure in Information & Technology developing and leading procurement related procurement strategies and processes.

Working Location

Our Hybrid working approach offers the opportunity for colleagues in some roles to work from home for an average of two days a week, providing the flexibility to work in an agile way whilst ensuring we deliver for the operational needs of Heathrow. Working arrangements vary from team to team and will be confirmed during the recruitment process. You'll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
