The general hours of work are 40 hours per week, with travel required for attending sites and meetings.

About the role of Commercial Manager
As a Commercial Manager, you will efficiently manage all commercial aspects of the business, continually striving to improve financial performance. You will be a key figure in managing and owning the client relationship, ensuring efficient commercial delivery of our projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to the commercial team, maximising the potential of both the teams and the individuals within them.
- Liaise with the customer, his representatives and other 3rd parties on commercial issues, including the agreement of additional monies.
- Ensure the achievement of annual (and monthly) commercial objectives and targets.
- Actively manage and participate in the winning of work; overseeing Process Management and negotiation of key contract terms for new (& where appropriate existing contracts to minimise business risk and maximise returns.
- Have control of Value recovery, billing and WIP identification.
- Proactively manage cash inflow.
- Ensure contract compliance from a commercial perspective.
- Ensure compliance with deadlines - both internal and client.
- Build and maintain high-level mutually beneficial customer, key supplier and vendor relationships. Carry out negotiations with customers on contract terms, valuation of works, and final account settlement.
- Attend contract reviews and assist with ensuring the accuracy and integrity of costs and values forecast by project teams
- Manage the ongoing commercial aspects of subcontracts, including agreement of terms and conditions.
- Lead and manage all commercial aspects of the business, from pre-contract through to final account.
About You
We are seeking a commercially astute professional with a track record of success in a similar role.
Must have:
- Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or in a senior commercial role within the construction/ Highways or rail sectors
- Strong contract management and negotiation skills.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing a commercial team
- Excellent financial and analytical abilities.
- A proactive, results-driven, and entrepreneurial mindset.
- Ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams and stakeholders
- A positive, can-do attitude.
- Full UK clean driving licence.
- Right to work in the UK unsponsored
What else looks good?
- BSc/MSc in Quantity Surveying
- Experience working with NEC contracts, especially Target Cost
