Your new role
As Commercial Manager you will be supporting with the development, implementation and management of all commercial activities and controls for the business unit you are assigned to. Responsible for the implementation of the group commercial strategy, tracking contract performance to budget and forecasts, carrying out formal reviews to support the financial accounts, managing adherence to the procurement strategy, providing commercial support to the Managing Director, dealing with ad hoc requests and commercial insight for decision making and ultimately maximising the profitability of your business unit whilst ensuring the Ipsum values are upheld (Safety, Service & Specialist).
Main Accountabilities:
- Day to day line management of your direct report, supporting their development and career goals.
- Support the business unit in the generation of tenders for all opportunities.
- Provision of advice on commercial issues to the Operational and Managing Director.
- Management of work in progress risk, via accurate billing, and support with payment collection.
- Execution of the measurement process for all contracts.
- Preparation of any sub-contract tender requirements.
- Assist the Operations Team in capturing costs that are accurate against the appropriate works budget.
- Assist with risk management and mitigation.
- Maintaining visibility of expenditure to ensure works are completed to budget.
- Management of contract applications for payment by clients.
- Preparation of monthly CVR's (Cost Value Reconciliations) on a monthly basis.
- Interface with the Senior Management Team and attend management reviews as required.
About you
Qualifications/ skills/ experience
- Bachelors/Masters degree or equivalent qualification
- Demonstrable experience within a similar commercial role
- Professional membership of a relevant body would be beneficial (e.g. ICM, RICS, ACCA)
- Experience of operating in a commercial, multi-divisional organisation.
