BAM Site Solutions are looking to recruit an Commercial Manager. This is a full time role and will involve a mixture of working from home and on site at Wellingbourough.
In close collaboration with the Site Solutions Managing Director, Segment Commercial Director, and related teams within the UK & Ireland division, this role leads the budgeted commercial performance of Site Solutions through precise analysis of processes and information.

This position works alongside the Site Solutions Managing Director and Segment Commercial Director to ensure exemplary commercial management of contracts, focusing on the development, maintenance, and control of commercial processes aligned with BAM management systems. The role involves a mix of remote work, on-site presence, and collaboration across BAM Site Solutions locations.

Your mission

• Commercial Management of new and existing client and supply chain contracts, reviewing, and completing contract amendments and liaising with clients and suppliers on revised terms and conditions whilst managing risk profile
• Oversee commercial procedures, including change notices, reconciliations, subcontract reconciliations, chargeable works, and payment applications.
• Collaborate in producing and reviewing cost value reports, supply chain processes, procurement, and controls to ensure compliance with BAM procedures.
• Collaborate with Finance and Operational colleagues to prepare bottom-up budgets and monthly forecasting.
• Ensure strict budget management in accordance with the contract, achieving buying savings where possible.
• Manage and report on commercial risks, client, and supplier relationships.
• Provide commercial support and reporting for the tendering process.
• Take responsibility for effective client relationship management and liaison on commercial issues.

Key activities

Operational:
• Provide monthly reporting to the Managing Director and Segment Commercial Director on financial data, project progress, milestones, risks, and opportunities.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in BAM Site Solution portfolio.
• Track, measure, and support analysis of commercial metrics using KPIs and BAM reporting tools.
• Contribute to quarterly forecast reporting, Operation Plan, and work-winning activities.
• Monitor effective supply chain management and contribute to procurement strategies.
• Support embedding new supply chain and procurement arrangements.
• Support and input to risk reviews and implementation of mitigating actions.
• Provide Commercial training to Teams.
• Input into the departmental strategy for improvement.

Technical:
• Maintaining and understanding of change strategy
• Ensure that risk assessment and management is applied to all steps in the business cycle
• Ensure that budget and cost control measures are in place and maintained
• Implement strategies that are always "best for BAM"
• Provide commercial advice to delivery teams
• Provide input to Division/Segment/Business Unit commercial discussions/reviews
• Produce and negotiate insurance claims with insurer's representatives
• Contribute to ensure policies, processes, and procedures support in the delivery of compliance.

People:
• Responsible for day-to-day line management of the commercial team.
• Manage and monitor team engagement and performance.
• Effectively manage the team to optimize resource utilization.
• Provide development opportunities for the team and support succession strategy.
• Deliver company values and investigate customer complaints professionally.
• Mentor the commercial team and others

Who are we looking for?

• You will understand both private and public sector project procurement processes and be comfortable working in a time critical, fast-moving environment.
• Qualification in business administration, QS, finance, or similar field desirable.
• Successful work experience as a Commercial Manager or in a relevant role.
• Solid knowledge of performance reporting and financial/budgeting processes.
• Experience with NEC and JCT contracts advantageous.
• Excellent commercial awareness with a strategic mindset.
• In-depth knowledge and experience in the UK Construction and Civils industry.
• Solid knowledge of plant, products, and services in a similar commercial role.
• Experience in establishing and delivering work programs and schedules.
• Experience in strategic customer and supplier management and negotiation.
• Track record of targeted commercial success.
• Hands-on experience in creating reporting and managing budgets.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
• Demonstrable interpersonal and leadership skills.
• High degree of energy and self-motivation.
• Respected role model for the commercial team and wider business.
• Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and provide focus, direction, and solutions.
• High level of IT systems awareness to operate SAP, Stage Gate, SharePoint, and bespoke reporting applications.
• Ability to understand and work to BAM values.
