DESCRIPTION

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we're looking for talented people who want to help.

You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

As the AWS Colo Regional Commissioning Engineer, you are responsible for ensuring the smooth and successful commissioning of the Colocation provider's systems and equipment on behalf of AWS. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the commissioning process, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, and project timelines

Key job responsibilities
1. Commissioning Oversight & AWS Representation
• Act as AWS' primary representative during the commissioning process, ensuring that systems and equipment meet the required specifications and performance standards.
• Oversee and review commissioning plans, procedures, and reports submitted by the commissioning agents and contractors.
• Monitor commissioning activities to ensure alignment with project timelines, budgets, and quality expectations.
• Coordinate with design teams, contractors, and project managers to resolve technical issues and ensure that systems are properly tested and verified.
• Conduct regular site inspections and progress reviews, ensuring that commissioning activities adhere to industry standards and project requirements.
• Assist in the pre-commissioning and post-commissioning activities, including final acceptance and close-out procedures.
• Ensure that all documentation (e.g., test records, certificates of compliance, etc.) is compiled and submitted for review and approval.
• Conduct risk assessments during commissioning and identify any potential risks related to system performance, safety, or compliance.
• Travel throughout EMEA to support and witness on-site commissioning activities and factory tests, as required

Collaboration & Reporting
• Work closely with the project manager, design engineers, and construction teams (both internal and external stakeholders) to ensure smooth integration of commissioning activities into the overall project schedule.
• Maintain regular communication with internal and external stakeholders to provide updates on commissioning progress, identify challenges, and propose solutions.
• Prepare and deliver progress reports on commissioning activities, issues, and resolutions to senior management and project stakeholders.

A day in the life
Each day you will interact with different teams responsible for all aspects of the data centers. You will prioritize your activities to support data center capacity delivery, availability and safety focusing on the actions that are most impactful. You will have the opportunity to work on projects locally and globally.
