Plymouth Family Hubs are Seeking a dynamic, passionate, committed and highly skilled person to join our amazing management team. As the new team manager, to continue to develop our parenting offer across the city, whilst also developing Family Hub services in the North of the city. Family Hubs provide high quality support to families in a safe and friendly environment.

Location of the post:

You will be based in the North of the city in either our hub at Four Greens Community Trust Whitleigh, or the Southway Community Hub. There is also the need to travel for meetings to other Family Hubs in the city and to meet with other professionals and organisations. We use a mix of on line and face to face meetings to engage with partners and stakeholders. Due to the nature of our face to face work with children and families the majority of our work is from the office / hubs, however there are times when working from home is advantageous.

Hours:

We are looking for 30 - 37 hours per week over 4 - 5 days, to include a Tuesday 8.30am - 4.30pm and a Friday 8.30am - 4pm. There are times when we need to work flexibly and this can include evenings and weekends depending on the needs of the service.

Some of the Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • To manage all areas of service provision in the North of the city as set out in the family hub specification.
  • To manage the facilitation of parenting courses across the Barnardo's Family Hubs working closely with other Family Hub providers and delivering organisations in the city.
  • To manage a team of Family Support Workers and Group Facilitators by providing supervision, practice development sessions, team meetings, on-going practice advice and monitoring and evaluation of all aspects of our recording policy.
  • To provide support to team members with regards to safeguarding, analytical thinking and on-going risk assessments.
  • To complete regular monitoring reports in line with the contract specifications set by the local authority.
  • Working with the Children's Service Manager and other team managers to grow and develop the service in line with Barnardo's corporate strategy of positive futures and based on the needs of Children and Young People.

Essential requirements to evidence in your application:

  • At least 12 months experience in managing a service / team aimed at supporting children, young people and families.
  • Experience in providing high quality personal and case supervision including casefile auditing.
  • Experience or knowledge of facilitating parenting courses, preferably Solihull, Incredible Years or Circle of Security.
  • An in depth understanding of supporting children and families through one to one interventions in the home.
  • Demonstratable record of good working practice with children, young people and families.
  • Proven track record of working with key partners and stakeholders to develop services to meet the needs of families.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Strong IT skills and the ability to accurately record information.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team work skills.

Although this contract has a permanent status, please be aware that this post is subject to funding currently to 31/03/2025 and therefore should this funding not be extended further, you may be subject to a redundancy consultation or a TUPE arrangement. This contract is due to expire on 31/3/25.
