We are delighted to offer an exceptional opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to join the Barton Lodge Veterinary Centre team as a Clinical Director.

We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Director to lead our Small Animal veterinary practice. As Clinical Director, you'll help lead a team of long-standing vets and nurses, managing a diverse caseload of surgeries and consultations, vet rotas and clinical budgets along with supporting our clinical team on the ground whilst offering the opportunity to explore your own clinical interests. You will be fully supported by both our experienced Head Nurse and Practice Manager and have a collaborative relationship with our Area and Regional Directors and Support Managers. This full-time role involves working in our single site clinic Barton Lodge Veterinary Centre. Working 40 hours over 4 or 5 days plus a share in the Saturday morning rota we are committed to supporting your work-life balance by offering a flexible rota pattern. Who we are

Barton Lodge is a long established, small animal practice situated in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. We are a short walking distance from the town centre that offers a variety of facilities close at hand, and close to a lovely park for relaxation. Hemel Hempstead is only 30 minutes away from London by train, and 20 minutes from Luton airport.

We are a single site practice, and all our rooms are air-conditioned. We have access to several good referral centres although a lot of complex cases can be managed at the clinic, including dentistry and orthopaedics. Our up-to-date facilities includes 3 consulting rooms, a dedicated operating theatre, large prep area, separate dog/cat wards, imaging/ dental area with digital X-ray facilities (standard and dental), doppler blood pressure monitor, MyLab 25 Gold E-SAOTE ultrasound scanner, endoscope, extensive in-house lab, ECG and tonometer.

Our friendly team is made up of 4 Veterinary Surgeons. We have 5 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 2 Student Veterinary Nurses, 3 Receptionists and a Practice Manager. Our RVN team regularly consult each day allowing the vets to focus on clinical cases. CPD is encouraged and well supported with an excellent CPD budget and additional staff benefit. We are a very friendly, close and inclusive team that like to promote a supportive culture and discuss cases when necessary. We are very supportive of CPDs if you want to focus on a particular area of care. We have a high Pet Health Club membership for preventative care, which means that our clients are bonded to the practice.

What you'll bring

You will be a dynamic leader, bringing a mix of your clinical, people and commercial leadership skills and be ready to lead by example. You will have an understanding and experience working with commercial measures such as profit and loss reports, and you will work closely with your Area Director in delivering the business KPIs through considered business planning.
