Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
- HCPC registered BMS. BSc in biomedical science or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
- FIBMS through MSc or equivalent.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive practical experience of clinical biochemistry. Supervisory & line management role in a laboratory.
Desirable criteria
- Experience in recruitment and selection, appraisal, disciplinary & performance management
Communication Skills
Essential criteria
- Able to produce clear written documentation. Report writing.
Desirable criteria
- Able to speak confidently to all grades of staff whether individually or in a group.
knowledge
Essential criteria
- Detailed knowledge of clinical biochemistry in health and disease. Detailed knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation.
Desirable criteria
- In depth knowledge of current UKAS accreditation standards. Governance process in relation to incident and SI reporting and investigation.
Skills
Essential criteria
- Accurate input of data while working under pressure. Ability to plan own work and the work of others.
Desirable criteria
- Proven management / supervisory skills. Managing departmental performance against key performance indicators.
Personal Characteristics & Relationship skills
