Qualifications & Training

Essential criteria

  • HCPC registered BMS. BSc in biomedical science or equivalent.

Desirable criteria

  • FIBMS through MSc or equivalent.

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Extensive practical experience of clinical biochemistry. Supervisory & line management role in a laboratory.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in recruitment and selection, appraisal, disciplinary & performance management

Communication Skills

Essential criteria

  • Able to produce clear written documentation. Report writing.

Desirable criteria

  • Able to speak confidently to all grades of staff whether individually or in a group.

knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Detailed knowledge of clinical biochemistry in health and disease. Detailed knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation.

Desirable criteria

  • In depth knowledge of current UKAS accreditation standards. Governance process in relation to incident and SI reporting and investigation.

Skills

Essential criteria

  • Accurate input of data while working under pressure. Ability to plan own work and the work of others.

Desirable criteria

  • Proven management / supervisory skills. Managing departmental performance against key performance indicators.

Personal Characteristics & Relationship skills
