Background
The Casualty market is changing at pace. Clients across the UK are consolidating to realise efficiencies and economies of scale. At the same time, panel sizes are reducing, and our clients are seeking national, full-service firms with leading individuals that can offer regional support. The merger of Clyde & Co and BLM on 1 July 2022 into a single, unified brand created a market-leading Casualty practice, its well-positioned to meet these demands and we expect that our new, strengthened proposition will provide future opportunities for expansion.
The Team
The Casualty business is governed by a dedicated Casualty Strategic Board, enabling it to meet the unique business environment and enhanced competitive pressures in the Casualty market. It also allows the Casualty business to move at pace and pivot quickly to ensure its response to market developments. The Casualty Client Relationship Management team operates throughout the sales pipeline: Awareness, Engagement, Conversion and Retention and specialises across a wide-ranging programme of marketing, business development, pitch & pursuit and various client development activities.
The Role
Our principles dictate that the highest value clients and opportunities command the highest value CD attention and bespoke tactics, and the Client Development Manager is a key role in the UK Casualty Business Development team. The role holder will work with business development, marketing, client development and pitch & pursuit colleagues to manage and contribute to the collaborative development and pursuit of clients across insurance business lines with a digital first ethos, along with working alongside Client Relationship Partners (CRP) and core teams across various disciplines.
This will be achieved by leveraging our market-leading expertise; facilitating the sales process; originating and coordinating high value marketing and communications activity; and providing advisory and execution services to the business. Shaping and implementing business development and client-focused initiatives, tailored to the UK Casualty market, will be key to the success of this role. Execution support is provided from a dedicated marketing team as well as centralised Business Development teams.
The role reports directly to the Head of Client Relationship Management.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience of operating in a similar role with comparable responsibilities is essential
- Experience in working within CRM for the legal sector and / or supply chain insurance services will be an advantage
- Proven experience of working in the Client/Business Development function of a professional services organisation is desirable.
- Whilst partnership and/or legal experience may be an advantage, candidates from other sectors are encouraged to apply
- Possesses a proactive, can-do attitude who likes to add value to any task they are asked to implement
- An ability to complete work to a high standard with quality and excellence of delivery at the forefront at all times
- Flexible attitude to work and delivery and to be of robust character
- Experienced in demanding stakeholder management (internal stakeholder and external stakeholders)
- Candidate must be well organised and able to juggle multiple tasks with differing deadlines
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, as well as alone, is essential
- Knowledge of MS Office packages and CRM systems an advantage
