About the Role

The role will permanently report to the Global Head of Client Development with temporary management and regular engagement with the Managing Director of the UK. The role requires very regular engagement with the UK Specialist and Business Getting Teams.

The role will primarily support the sourcing of consignments and the engagement of high-level collectors across the Bonhams UK network. The role will work within a growing global Client Development team and presents the opportunity to develop the role and strategy within this exciting and growing field.

The candidate must be available to begin the role by December 1st 2024. The role will be based at Bonhams' Global Headquarters at 101 New Bond Street, London and will require regular in-person engagement with colleagues in Bonhams' London locations as well as occasional in-person meetings and engagement with Bonhams regional offices and Edinburgh saleroom.

Key Responsibilities

In your role as Client Development Manager, UK, you will be:

  • Identifying key client targets across the UK for Specialists, Business Getters and Regional Representatives in those areas
  • Establishing regular review of top private clients across the region and establishing an engagement strategy for those target clients
  • Regularly review New and Dormant clients across region for review and engagement with client facing team
  • Support the selling of key flagship sales from UK salerooms
  • Produce and engage with Data Analysis to determine client identification and engagement strategies for the above
  • Identifying key 'introducers' to engage for consignment getting
  • Using Bonhams' databases to identify key objects for consignment getting
  • Ensuring that all key client data for these individuals is correctly reflected and regularly updated in Bonhams' systems
  • Regular engagement with the Global Bonhams Client Development team including occasional support of international locations Client Development activities
  • Proactive, regular engagement with market news, new sources, and social media to understand market changes, client status changes or potential opportunities with clients

Client identification would take place via:

  • Use of Bonhams client database & data systems
  • Specialist and Business Getter's existing networks and client relationships
  • Research of both introducer and private client networks
  • External news sources and social media

These targets would be used for:

  • Travel and client visits
  • Specific consignment campaigns
  • Selling of Bonhams' auctions
  • Events
  • General client engagement

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Previous experience with database use and management required; specific experience with Tableau would be welcomed
  • Advanced MS Office experience, particularly with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience generating data analysis reports required
  • Previous auction house experience required
  • Demonstrate an entrepreneurial and creative approach to generating opportunities
  • Detail orientated, organized and strong with time management to work with deadlines assigned from the business
  • Willingness and ability to interface between data systems as well as specialists and business-getters
  • Track record of team-work to deliver goals in a busy and fast paced environment
  • Proactive client communication
