Job Description:
The role of Client Account Director (FTC) at Carat will focus on Microsoft's Commercial account and is responsible for the Client's B2B portfolio pan-EMEA, as well as the major local Field markets, leading strategic initiatives and driving exceptional results for our client.
This position serves as the primary liaison between Carat and Microsoft, overseeing the development and execution of tailored media strategies to meet the client's business objectives, as well as developing and advancing best practice in how we deliver great work across all campaigns. The Client Account Director plays a pivotal role in fostering strong client relationships, guiding a team of talented professionals, and ensuring the successful implementation of media campaigns. By leveraging market insights, industry expertise, and innovative thinking, the Account Director shapes the direction of media plans, optimizes campaign performance, and ultimately contributes to the growth and success of both the client's business and the agency.
The Client Account Director reports to the Client Director and Client Partner Strategist, collaborating closely to align cross regional strategies, drive innovation, and ensure the delivery of outstanding service to Microsoft.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the Microsoft account, fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Understand the client's business objectives and develop media strategies aligned with their goals.
- Conduct regular meetings and presentations to update the client on campaign performance, industry trends, and strategic recommendations.
Strategic Planning and Execution:
- Lead the development of innovative media tactics and plans tailored to the B2B products of Microsoft.
- Collaborate with internal teams including channel activation planners, insights, strategy and external media owners / publishers.
- Utilize market research, consumer insights, and industry trends to inform all media recommendations and optimizations.
Campaign Management:
- Oversee the implementation and optimization of media campaigns with a strong focus on digital across various channels including paid social, search, display, and partnerships.
- Monitor campaign performance, analyze data, and provide insights to drive continuous improvement and achieve KPIs.
- Ensure campaigns are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with client expectations.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Manage a team of account managers and executives, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team, promoting professional growth and development.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, set clear objectives, and provide constructive feedback.
- Ensure team development within, and adoption of, agency best practices around planning and campaign design (DFP).
- Advance best practice, templating, and improve processes for the best ways of working across all aspects of the account in collaboration with CD.
Financial Management:
- Oversee budget allocation and financial management for the Microsoft account, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to financial targets.
- Monitor revenue forecasts, billing processes, and invoicing to maintain financial health and profitability.

Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in media planning, account management, or related roles within a media agency or marketing environment. Experience in B2B is a plus.
- Strong understanding of the digital media landscape and experience with digital marketing platforms and tools.
- Proven track record of managing client relationships, driving business growth, and delivering successful media campaigns.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present ideas persuasively and build rapport with clients and internal teams.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience in coaching and developing talent.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, draw insights, and make data-driven decisions.
- Confident in rationalizing and justifying planning decisions based on research and data, founded on planning principles.
