Reports To: Head of Claims Assurance, Controls & Governance
Key Relationships: Claims Team, Claims Business Management Team ("CBMT"), Claims Service and Strategy Team ("CSST"), various centralised teams such as Risk Management, Compliance etc
Job Summary:
To support Beazley's claims control environment, governance framework and general claims team. The role is focused on supporting the Head of Claims Assurance, Controls & Governance in driving strong governance across the Claims Team to implement, manage and embed compliance with the claims controls environment, regulatory obligations and internal policies and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide support to the Claims Business Management Team specifically:
Controls
- Support the Head of Claims Assurance, Controls & Governance with the management, review and effective running of the Claims controls environment.
- Analyse current processes as related to the control environment and design and implement best practices, adding value and strengthening the control environment.
- Prepare, at a level appropriate to the role, presentations, spreadsheets and documentation of any topics related to the controls environment.
- Work proactively with the Head of Claims Assurance, Controls & Governance and key stakeholders on identified risks, appetite for risk and mitigating controls.
- Identify and/or respond consistently and accurately to requests for support for assistance from the Claims Team with regard to controls and the control environment.
- Build understanding of Claims related concepts (controls / risk / governance, operational, regulatory) to be able to provide accurate and consistent answers to queries.
- Manage the Independent Claims File Reviews in conjunction with the Head of Claims Assurance, Controls & Governance and the GCMT..
- Support the Head of Claims Assurance , Controls and Governance by undertaking assurance testing on Claims key processes and deliver the "so what" of the findings through these tests which will affirm good practices being followed but also provide opportunity to strengthen the control environment within those processes and recommended actions.
Audits
- Support the Head of Claims Assurance, Controls & Governance on internal and external audits.
- Take ownership for certain tasks, at a level appropriate to the role, on specific audits as assigned by the Head of Claims Assurance, Controls & Governance.
- Monitoring and managing actions arising out of claims audits to ensure completion in a timely manner and producing reports on the status of outstanding actions for the relevant committees.
Regulatory / Policies and Procedures
- Support the Head of Claims Assurance, Controls & Governance and the CBMT, at a level appropriate to the role, in coordinating, collating, and returning regulatory information.
- Maintenance of an up-to-date suite of procedure guides for the Claims team including reviewing and updating the existing guides and collaborating with key stakeholders inside and outside the Claims Team.
- Support the Head of Claims Assurance, Controls & Governance in the annual policy and claims protocol reviews and maintenance of all centralised documentation for the Claims Team.
- Build an understanding of Beazley's products and claims handling processes, including different operating models and entity requirements.
Conflicts of Interest
- Ownership of Beazley's Conflicts of Interest policy, alert the appropriate person to any potential conflicts of interest and take steps to resolve them promptly.
- Immediately advise the Group Head of Claims if you observe any Beazley employee seeking to exert undue influence on another team member to act improperly in the management of any claim.
General
- Manage and own small projects as assigned by the Head of Claims Business Management, Deputy Head of Claims Business Management, and Head of Claims Assurance, Controls & Governance, expected to primarily be relevant to the Claims controls environment, regulatory or governance topics.
- Participate in cross-team and intra-team projects as requested by the Head of Claims Business Management or Deputy Head of Claims Business Management, leading to business process change, IT improvements and/or standardisation as required.
- Deliver ad hoc administrative processes ensuring stakeholders are appropriately consulted and informed, deadlines met, and appropriate escalations made. Monitor, measure and report progress on projects undertaken.
- Triage requests for support and service directed to the CBMT inbox.
- Ownership of the process for tracking Joiners, Movers and Leavers regarding IT access, system requirements and CBMT related training needs.
- Support the administration of core claims systems including ClaimCenter and Legal-X, support the New Joiner Request and other Access requests.
- Deputise for the Claims Governance Manager in reporting into various meetings, Groups and Committees as required.
- Build effective working relationships with other team members and across the Group.
- Promote the Beazley brand of excellence and professionalism.
Personal Specification:
Education and Qualifications
- Graduate calibre
- 3 years of insurance experience
Skills and Abilities

Knowledge and Experience
- Experience in insurance industry, including preferably the Lloyd's Market
- Demonstrable process/project management skills
- Experience of claims management guidelines, claims processes and systems
- Client service experience gained within an insurance environment.
