We're currently recruiting for a fixed term Childline Volunteer Engagement Lead in our Volunteer Operations team.
We're currently recruiting for a full time Childline Volunteer Engagement Lead in Childline Birmingham, to provide maternity cover until the end of July 2025. We are also open to applications from part time applicants (17.5 hours) and would be happy to discuss your personal preferences during interview.

You will be part of the wider Childline Volunteer Operations team, and together with your colleagues, be the key point of contact for Childline volunteers. You will use your outreach engagement skills to build excellent local recruitment networks. You will ensure that our volunteers feel valued through celebration and retention activities. You will be a visible and welcoming presence to the volunteers and support our volunteers to commit to regular shifts. You will play a key role in ensuring safer recruitment processes are followed for all those who wish to support our mission to be there for all children and young people that need us.
You will have the chance to make a positive difference, supporting the volunteers who are there for thousands of children and young people every year.
We support hundreds of thousands of children all over the UK every year. As a Childline Volunteer Engagement Lead you will provide this crucial, creative and key role of ensuring our volunteers have the best possible experience. You will work alongside a committed and dedicated team who will share your values of working together and making an impact.

Your core hours will be office hours, 0900-1700 but visibility to the volunteers is crucial in this role and flexibility around your hours worked is key. It will include elements of evening and weekend working from time to time, but supported through the option of hybrid working.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be someone who

  • Has a strong background working with volunteers within a safeguarding or charitable context
  • Believes in our cause, our mission, and wants to help us be there for all children and young people
  • Has a passion for supporting others, especially in situations which can be emotionally challenging
