We are seeking a motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Chief Executive Officer The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the develop and implement our new strategy and to inspire, motivate and lead the staff team to better serve and support Hammersmith and Fulham Mencap service users and work with our key stakeholders.

You will have a proven track record of leadership and fundraising/income generation (obtained in charity or commercial, public or private sectors); the vision to increase HF Mencap's reach and impact; strong financial acumen; a warm and engaging personality; outstanding communication skills and the ability to relate very well to our community of service users, carers and families. Crucially, you will have a strong commitment to and understanding of the nature of HF Mencap and our work and values: HF Mencap gives those with learning disabilities and autism the opportunity to achieve their full potential and live as independently as they can.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Representing HF Mencap and its beneficiaries to relevant audiences: Through events, communications and speaking opportunities increase awareness of HF Mencap, its work and its values
  • Manage and develop key relationships and act as HF Mencap's public face with varied bodies
  • Impact and Growth: Scope/build/establish a network and donor base to maintain and grow the income of HF Mencap and its reach. This will involve developing a new focus on a variety of fundraising activities: major gifts, trusts and foundations, legacies, events and general appeals Nurture existing relationships, identifying new prospects beyond the usual circles
  • Vision and Strategy: Work closely with the Board to ensure that the organisation has a deliverable/accessible and long-term strategy
  • Take overall responsibility for delivering the strategy
  • Working with the Chair to enable the Board to fulfil its functions and legal responsibilities under charity and company law
  • Leadership and Management Inspire management and development of the staff team.
  • Maintain a climate that attracts, retains and motivates staff
  • Have overall responsibility for financial planning, financial liability, financial management, monitoring and control
  • Ensure systems and processes are in place to maximise the effectiveness of HF Mencap, ensuring the best use of its resources and compliance with relevant legislation and best practice guidance
  • To ensure that full regard is given to the requirements of such things as Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding, Health and Safety and other relevant legislation, and that appropriate staff training is in place
