We are looking for a Chemistry Manager to join our wonderful team at Weetabix !

The ideal candidate for this position will be responsible for minimising chemical food safety risks and ensuring quality and legal compliance. This will be achieved through the effective provision of chemistry services, leveraging their subject matter expertise to evaluate and manage chemical food safety risks, and to maintain high-quality standards in accordance with legal requirements.

The purpose of this role is to:

  • Develop & implement chemical and nutritional risk assessments to define effective due diligence and quality test programs.
  • Translate data into actionable information and communicate through monthly reports, HARA and to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Deliver chemical food safety through HACCP & support the troubleshooting of chemical issues in the factory.
  • Lead chemical contaminant or legal compliance initiatives to reduce food safety risk and improve quality.
  • Ensure validity of results through accreditation.
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate future chemical risks.
  • Chemistry technical support & expert advice for the business, e.g., specification reviews, audits, customer queries.
  • Advise on best practice in laboratory testing, ensuring chemistry technology is up to date & as efficient as possible.
  • Be fully familiar (including the underlying science) of over 30 analytical methods, including the analytical instrumentation and equipment involved, e.g., LCMSMS.

Requirements

Non-negotiables

  • Able to demonstrate consistent analytical laboratory experience (specifically chromatography techniques).
  • Have the confidence and ability to make decisions, and translate data clearly and credibly to others
  • Ability to prioritise activities & effectively deliver high quality output.
  • In depth scientific and technical understanding of industry-standard chemistry test methods, analytical systems, and risk assessment procedures.
  • Alignment to Weetabix values
  • Are always curious to find new ways to do business!
  • Have the ability to demonstrate how you keep up to date in your field of expertise

Nice to haves

  • Experience with an FMCG business
  • Line management experience.
