We currently have a Waste Water Services Central Duty Manager position available for a motivated individual to join our team in Exeter. Joining us on a full-time basis, you will receive a competitive salary of £44,000 per annum including20% shift allowance.

About the role

As the Central Duty Manager you will provide out of hours central support and governance for Waste Water Services. Acting as the primary escalation point, you will takes a leading role in pollution events and other compliance risks, managing operational incidents and making informed decisions to maintain regulatory compliance, ensuring incidents are appropriately attended, mitigated and resolved.

This role also works closely with the Alarm Team & Central Support Technician to ensure effective triage of contacts, alarms and pro-active initiatives received in the Service Support Centre (SSC).

This role works a 24/7 shift pattern, working 6 days on with 4 days off (2x Mornings/2x Afternoons/2x Nights) with the following shift times:

07:00 - 15:15

15:00 - 23:15

23:00 - 07:15

What you'll be doing:

    • Receive, triage & ensure appropriate operational response to potential pollution incidents and other operational events, coordinating appropriate actions to mitigate risk and resolve incidents.
    • Communicate and liaise with the internal and external stakeholders & regulators
    • Work with and coach the Central Support Technician & Alarm Team in the management and triage of waste water alarms & alerts.
    • Analyse operational data, trends, and alarms to identify potential issues and take appropriate corrective actions.
    • Coordinate and allocate resources effectively to ensure operational continuity.
    • Provide in-hours regional support to the operational teams, FSCs and Pro-active Alarm Coordinators to promote and achieve a pro-active approach to compliance and pollution risk mitigation.
    • Minimise out of hours disturbance for WWS Duty Functional Managers and field team members.
    • Promote adherence to Health & Safety & HomeSafe principles and work with field staff to ensure out of hours work is completed safely.

What we are looking for:

    • 5 GCSE's or equivalent including Maths, English & a Science subject
    • A Level or equivalent
    • Recognised Water Industry qualification
    • Proven experience working in an operational control room
    • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and environmental compliance standards for waste water
    • Proficient in using control room systems, SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) software, and other relevant technology
    • Abilityto participate in 24/7 shift rotation
