Qualifications

Essential criteria

• NMC Registered Nurse
• ALS certification

Desirable criteria

• GIC course
• Non medical prescriber

Skills and abilities

Essential criteria

• Communication and negotiation skills
• Knowledge of patient assessment and initial management.
• Ability to recognise patient deterioration, respond and escalate appropriately.

Desirable criteria

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to work to strict timelines and under pressure.
• Ability to demonstrate sound clinical knowledge and professional judgement
• Awareness of the clinical management of patients in a range of critical care settings

Experience

Essential criteria

• Substantial experience working within a critical care environment/CCU/ED
• Experience of teaching

Desirable criteria

• Management/Leadership experience

Knowledge

Essential criteria

• Knowledge of government targets and Trust objectives
• Demonstrates up to date knowledge, self-development and expertise in the specialty.
• knowledge around Martha's Rule/Call for Concern

Other

Essential criteria

• Evidence of ongoing professional development
• Demonstrates awareness of quality improvement, research and evidence - based practice
• Flexible approach to work patterns
• Physically able to attend cardiac arrest calls and assist as a member of the team.
• Good dexterity to carry out emergency procedures e.g. defibrillation, cannulation within their own scope of practice
