Job overview

Are you passionate about improving the quality of healthcare? We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Cardiac Quality and Safety Manager to join our directorate management team. You will provide patient safety advice and, in collaboration with the directorate governance team, lead on safety-related activities. You will also play a key role in providing clinical quality advice and support to our multidisciplinary teams across the directorate.

Main duties of the job

The 'must haves' for this role:

  • Registered nurses and allied health professionals with a keen interest in quality, safety, and governance.
  • Experience in patient safety and quality systems.
  • Strong communication and organisational skill

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience of patient safety and quality systems.
  • Work effectively with a wide range of people within the directorate across our acute and community services as well as the Trust.
  • Lead the development of quality and safety reports for regular and ad hoc meetings.
  • Support improvement and quality initiatives.
  • Investigate incidents, write initial incident reports, and present at the Medical Directors Panel.
  • Play a vital part in preparations for CQC inspections/visits and other external accreditation visits.
  • Initiate and support quality initiatives across the directorate using Trust tools and platforms.

Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional
  • Educated to at least degree level and equivalent experience
  • Recognised teaching / assessing Qualification

Desirable criteria

  • Leadership and Management Training/Experience

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Evidence of working at Band 7 level or above
  • Experience and knowledge of quality Standards, undertaking audits, surveys and research
  • Knowledge and understanding of current issues in speciality and wider NHS

Desirable criteria

  • Understanding of quality improvement methodology and principles
  • Previous project management or leadership experience

Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities

Essential criteria

  • Sound understanding of quality initiatives, risk and clinical governance
  • Ability to understand and act on complex pieces of information
  • IT Skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
