Job overview
It is an exciting time to be an Imperial Cancer services leader. The Trust continues to improve it's performance against the NHS Cancer Wait Time standards whilst in parallel implementing a major transformation programme which aims to improve cancer patient experience.
In this role as Cancer Performance Manager you will be instrumental in driving the cancer services operating rhythm including delivery of effective MDT meetings, regular tracking of patients and data quality assurance. In addition, you will be responsible for working with colleagues from across the organisation to improve the efficiency of our cancer pathways and for the management of a team of c. 30 specialist cancer administrators.
You will also be a key contributor to our ongoing cancer transformation work including redesigning and investing in our cancer workforce, strengthening patient information and contacts in the diagnostic stage, and implementing digital and estates improvements.
This role acts as the deputy for the Head of Cancer Performance and Improvement or General Manager for the Corporate Cancer directorate. It therefore provides the opportunity to work closely with senior Trust leadership and develop further experience of operational, financial, quality, safety and people management.
Main duties of the job
The purpose of this role is to lead on the delivery of cancer access targets, clinical datasets, national audits, quality schedules, service improvement programmes and internal clinical pathways. This is supported by the post holder delivering effective cancer multidisciplinary team meetings and managing an extensive cancer administrative team. The role also involves the management of relationships with commissioners, the cancer alliance and local cancer managers to ensure effective cancer pathway delivery across North West London.
Integral to the success of this role is performance monitoring and intervention to ensure delivery of the performance management framework. This will be achieved by working alongside the Divisional Directors, Divisional Directors of Operations within the three divisions, clinical leaders, the cancer analytics team and General and Business Manager colleagues to ensure robust systems and processes are in place.
This post holder will have specific responsibility for improving the performance across a portfolio of agreed priorities. They will play an instrumental role providing programme management expertise to co-ordinate the programme work-streams, leading and supporting individual specialties' service redesign projects to sustainably achieve the required performance.
