The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Buying Manager to join our dynamic team at Tapi Carpets & Flooring, the UK's largest flooring retailer specializing in Carpet, Laminate, LVT, Vinyl and Engineered Wood products. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the procurement and management of laminate and engineered wood flooring categories, ensuring the best products are sourced at competitive prices to meet customer demand.
Your Responsibilities
- Category Management: Lead the strategic sourcing and category management of laminate and engineered wood flooring products, ensuring a diverse, high-quality product range that meets market trends and customer expectations.
- Supplier Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers and identify new suppliers to enhance the product offering. Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts to ensure the best value for the company.
- Product Selection: Stay abreast of industry trends and consumer preferences to select and introduce new products that align with the company's brand and customer needs.
- Pricing Strategy: Develop and implement pricing strategies that maximize profitability while remaining competitive in the market. Regularly review and adjust pricing based on market conditions, cost fluctuations, and competitor analysis.
- Sampling: Work closely with suppliers to ensure that sampling is delivered in an efficient manner.
- Sales Collaboration: Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to create promotional plans and strategies that drive sales and increase market share for laminate and engineered wood products.
- Market Research: Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, customer preferences, and competitive activities. Use insights to make informed decisions on product selection and positioning.
- Training & Development: Provide training and support to the sales team on product knowledge, market trends, and effective selling strategies for laminate and engineered wood flooring.
- Compliance & Quality Control: Ensure all products meet the company's quality standards and comply with relevant regulations. Work with suppliers to resolve any quality issues promptly.

Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a buying or purchasing role within the retail industry, preferably in flooring or home improvement.
- Strong knowledge of laminate and engineered wood flooring products.
- Proven track record of successful supplier negotiation and contract management.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on achieving results.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
