Job Title: Business Winning Manager
Location: Rochester, Kent. (Onsite)
Salary: £70,000 + depending on experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Campaign and Capture Strategy – support Campaign and Capture Managers in the generation of high-quality Capture Plans. Provide business acumen to ensure each capture is Real, Winnable and has Worth to the Rochester Business Centre (RBC). Support capture planning and facilitate traditional colour reviews (such as Black Hats and Blue Teams) throughout the capture. Provide independence and objectivity while recommending Business Winning best practice and strategies to increase probability of win (pWin)
- Customer and Competitive Intelligence (CI) Gathering and Assessment – the BW team gathers CI for current opportunities and uses it to draw hypothesis of competitors expected technical or bid strategy. The BW team assists with stakeholder mapping, draft evaluation criteria and the generation of Customer Value Propositions. The candidate should be used to gathering, disseminating and making use of CI to provide advice to the capture manager on expected competitor actions to inform win strategies
- Price to Win (PTW) Development – support the current PTW SME to take on some of the workload; prior experience in developing price to win would be an advantage, although on- the- job training will be provided. Every bid passing through the BW team must have a PTW. The successful candidate should have the necessary skills to support the development of PTW. Past project management: estimating or finance experience will be an advantage for this element of the role. Development of PTW would require a good technical bias, ideally in the area of electronic systems
- Proposal Management – supporting Campaign and Capture Managers to ensure that the cross-functional bid team meets its proposal delivery schedule. Deliverables would typically include proposal collateral requirements such as technical and management volumes, supporting bid evidence and customer questionnaires. The proposal manager is expected to support the development of proposal win themes and strengths, to ensure that proposals are adequately resourced, and that generated collateral is of sufficient quality to go into review cycles
Your skills and experiences:
- Bid management for both UK MOD and US DOD competitive tendering; knowledge and experience of US source selection procedures would be required; use of the UK MOD AWARD process is considerable desirable
- A proven technical background to be able to read and assimilate technical requirements and the impact on price
- Prior project management experience, as a minimum the use of MS Project and an understanding of work breakdown structure, cost breakdown structures and Project Master Schedules

The Rochester Business Centre (RBC) Business Winning (BW) team:
The Rochester Business Centre (RBC) Business Winning (BW) team is looking for an experienced all-rounder that has experience in capture, bid and proposal management. The successful candidate will have a good technical bias; previous project-management experience would be an advantage as would project financial management or financial awareness as a minimum. Reporting to the Head of Business Winning the role will be responsible for providing Business Winning best practise and expertise across a range of business growth activities; with a particular focus on supporting Product leads, Business Development Managers and Capture Managers. Business Winning support ranges from providing assistance to the development of product, campaign and capture strategies through to enhancing the bid and proposal execution. The business-winning team at the RBC is a small function providing a service to three separate business areas: Proposal Management, Price to Win Development, Customer and Competitive Intelligence (CI) Gathering and Assessment.
