Your Role and What You'll Be Doing
The Business Tax Manager will manage the day-to-day operation of the Group's business tax compliance and reporting and provide a point of contact for all business tax queries. Be the subject matter expert for VAT across the firm and point of contact for all indirect tax queries and training needs across the group.
You will provide support to Head of Tax and Partner Finance, and as part of the Group Finance team provide support to the Director of Group Finance and wider team.
Indirect Tax
- Technical review and submission of VAT returns across the group, including partial exemption calculations, annual adjustments and Capital Goods Scheme calculations.
- Ensuring any payments due (up to £12m per quarter), including Payments on Account are received by HMRC before the due date.
- Key point of contact for all divisions across the group for VAT queries and expert tax advice and guidance.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures, ensuring these are in line with the Group's overall strategy and values.
- Ensure the group is compliant from an indirect tax perspective by overseeing the VAT compliance cycle.
- Provide training and guidance to the wider business as appropriate.
Corporate Tax
- Review and collate the groups Partnership and Corporate Tax returns and manage all aspects of corporate tax compliance and reporting, including R&D Tax credits, payments on account and other adjustments.
- Ensuring any payments due (in excess of £8m per annum), including Payments on Account are received by HMRC before the due date.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures, ensuring these are in line with the Group's overall strategy and values.
- Evaluate lawful opportunities for minimising tax liabilities
- Liaise with external advisors on tax queries and submissions.
Other
- Provision of overseas tax forms and certificates.
- Keep abreast of changing tax laws and requirements
- Ensure the Tax Strategy is updated on an annual basis
- Assist the Head of Tax and Partner Services with preparations for HMRC risk assessments, ensuring all documentation is available and up to date.
- Work closely with the management accounts and external reporting teams, including but not limited to the year end reporting and audit, and budgeting cycle.
- Assist the Head of Tax and Partner Services with ensuring overall tax compliance for the Group and the partners.
About You
- ACCA, ACA or CTA qualified, or ATT qualified with relevant post qualification experience
- Minimum 5 years at a senior level relevant business tax experience
- Ongoing commitment to professional development particularly keeping up to date with new case law and changes to tax legislation.
- Experience of preparing and submitting VAT and Corporation Tax returns for large and complex organisations.
