Job Title: Business Manager - People and Sustainability
Division: People & Sustainability (P&S)
Reports To: Chief People & Sustainability Officer (CPSO)
Key Relationships: Chief People & Sustainability Officer, Head of Sustainability, People Leads (UK, US, Europe), Head of Reward & Performance, Head of Operations, Head of Sustainability, Head of Internal Communications, Head of Organisational Effectiveness.
Job Summary: To provide strategic and operational support to the Chief People & Sustainability Officer in their responsibilities for delivering Beazley's vision of being the highest performing specialist insurer. To support the CPSO and the leadership team in leading, managing and development of strategic initiatives designed to develop a function that key stakeholders trust and recognise as best in class.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy
- Work with the Chief People & Sustainability Officer, Senior Leadership Team and their wider teams to develop and implement a strategy to deliver People and Sustainability excellence across Beazley.
- Provide input into and work closely with the SLT in the preparation and delivery of an annual Business Plan.
- Monitoring the Teams' plans throughout the year and ensuring that they are on track.
- In conjunction with the SLT carry out periodic strategic reviews of P&S to ensure we are in line with stakeholder expectation.
- Work closely with the business as required to understand key business requirements.
- Undertake analysis as requested by the CPSO to identify opportunities to further improve the team delivery.
Budget and Planning
- Manage the budgeting process and centrally coordinate recruitment and headcount allocation.
- Work with SLT on the resourcing strategy, support to implement and monitor. This includes but it not limited to permanent, contract and outsource provider headcount.
Reporting
- Make optimal use of reports, analyses and observations to align across the teams, reducing repetition and helping to efficiently report to the business.
- On behalf of the CPSO write effective Committee and Board Level updates and participate proactively on Committees when requested on behalf of the CPSO.
- Work with the Executive Assistant to keep a log of actions and recommendations.
Operational Support
- Lead major projects that span across both teams. Ensure that the accountabilities are clear and it is executed effectively and efficiently.
- Work with the EA to ensure that agreed priorities for the CRO are executed upon.
- Assist the CPSO in facilitating effective decision making and deputising for the CPSO as necessary.
- Work with the EA to plan and execute effective meetings and workshops of the SLT and wider teams in order to review progress against the Business Plan and discuss key strategic and issues.
Training and development
- Periodically review and as necessary make recommendations for the development of the team training curriculum.
- Ensure that all employees have the knowledge and the skills necessary to perform effectively in their given roles and responsibilities.
Beazley Processes and Controls
- Follow Beazley's procedures for the selection and retention of 3rd parties and where required manage these relationships to the benefit of Beazley.
- Build knowledge of Beazley's processes and requirements, specifically any related to our risk control environment, and act as a centre of excellence for ensuring the wider team is aware of and following correct procedures.
- Act as the main contact point for all Internal Audit enquiries, allocating tasks as appropriate.

Knowledge and Experience
- Solid experience of Financial Services
- Experience of working in an HR Function preferred
- Experience of project management within a fast moving environment
- Ability to input into Group strategy
- Experience of client service management gained within an insurance environment
- Hands-on experience of team management and people development
- Experience of implementing process improvement, ideally within a traditional environment
