As we scale, we need to strengthen our ability to service new opportunities, run focused sales campaigns, and manage growing accounts.

We are now seeking a Business Development Manager to play a key role in driving our commercial success by acquiring new business, managing key accounts, and leading sales initiatives across various industries, where designed components, with strain rate sensitivity, are critical, including sports, PPE, and industrial and leisure products and applications .

The Role

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for executing targeted sales campaigns, managing relationships with existing and growing accounts, and responding to inbound inquiries. This role requires a proactive, experienced sales professional with a strong track record in business development, deal-making, and account management. Reporting to the Business Unit Leader, this individual will collaborate closely with the product development and marketing teams to achieve defined sales targets.

The role will involve regular travel to customers across the US and Europe to develop relationships, close deals, and identify new business opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute focused sales campaigns to drive new business opportunities.
  • Manage and grow existing customer accounts through proactive engagement and relationship management.
  • Respond to inbound inquiries and convert them into commercial opportunities.
  • Identify and prospect new business opportunities across industries requiring strain rate-sensitive components.
  • Lead negotiations, present sales proposals, and close high-value deals.
  • Achieve defined sales targets and contribute to overall business growth.
  • Collaborate with the Product Development and Marketing teams to align sales strategies with product offerings and market positioning.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts and pipeline management.
  • Regularly travel to customers in the US and Europe to develop business relationships and support deal-making.
  • Be a role model for the company's values (Collaboration, Innovation, Empowerment, and Rigour) and set an example for other staff.
  • Work hours are 9 am-6 pm, Mon-Fri, subject to flexible working around core hours.

  • Salary: £50,000 - £80,000 + sales bonus per annum (subject to experience and performance)

Job Requirements

Required:

  • A well-established track record in sales, ideally with 7+ years of experience.
  • Strong skills in negotiation, pitching, relationship management, and basic forecasting.
  • Proven ability to prospect, manage leads, and close deals.
  • Experience with account management and growing existing business relationships.
  • Experience of selling to US markets.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across the US and Europe.

Desirable:

  • Experience selling within industries such as sports, PPE, or motorcycle gear.
  • Knowledge of CRM tools and sales pipeline management.
  • Background in working closely with product development and marketing teams to shape sales strategies.
