Job Description

Pearson VUE is looking for a Business Development Manager to help us win and support new customers across the UK, European and African regions. In this role, you will focus on selling Pearson VUE services and solutions, often combined with other Pearson offerings, to secure large, multi-year contracts. The objective is to understand our prospects' challenges and help them to identify opportunities and deliver solutions that will help them grow their certification programmes and improve their business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of identifying and qualifying new business opportunities that fit Pearson VUE's offerings.
  • Stay up-to-date on our products and services.
  • Create and deliver professional presentations to clients and prospects.
  • Respond to clients, prospects, and partners promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain an up-to-date pipeline in the Pearson VUE CRM system and share updates with the team.
  • Follow our bid management process closely, involving the right teams and ensuring top-quality proposals for RFQs, RFPs, and tenders.
  • Take the lead on key aspects of sales proposals, including solution design, partner involvement, pricing, and commercial terms.
  • Build a strong understanding of your assigned market sector and keep an eye on trends and opportunities.
  • Represent Pearson VUE at events like seminars and exhibitions.
  • Keep the team updated on your progress, with regular reports and contributions to meetings.
  • Aim to meet 3-4 prospects/customers each week to keep things moving forward.

What We Are Looking For

Must-Haves:

  • A minimum 3 years of success in solution selling (preferred) especially multi-year contracts, or similar commercial role with driven nature and willingness to learn from the wider Pearson VUE commercial team.
  • A self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently while collaborating with a virtual team.
  • Excellent relationship management skills and commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Strong PC and tech skills.
  • Excellent communication skills-both verbal and written.
  • Experience of the full sales lifecycle, from prospecting to closing deals.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Flexibility to work outside the usual 9-to-5 when needed.
  • A proven track record in consultative sales and the patience to navigate long sales cycles.
  • Comfort with technology-oriented solutions and engaging with senior decision-makers.
  • A target-driven approach to work.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • A Bachelor's degree in IT, Technology or Business.
  • Familiarity with the assessment and testing industry.
  • Experience in the public tendering process in Europe.
  • Fluency in another European language (both verbal and written).

Working Hours and Travel
This is a full-time role, with core hours Monday to Friday. You'll also need to travel regionally and internationally as required.
