As we embark on the next phase of our growth we're looking for someone to join the team who can be responsible for driving growth and expanding our presence within our customer base in the Central Belt of Scotland. Utilising their knowledge, insights and networks to attract new clients.

Sword provides dedicated and flexible IT Modern Managed services that enable customers to prioritise their business objectives whilst maintaining business continuity and operational efficiency to drive value from the business.

We take on the responsibility of IT operations by delivering flexible, scalable, services enabling customers to focus on business performance.

As a Business Development Manager, you'll be driven by goals and possess a strong understanding of Direct Sales and Customer Service. In this role, you'll have the exciting opportunity to spot sales prospects and cultivate a thriving sales pipeline, while also ensuring you meet your sales KPIs consistently.

This role will be based in Glasgow, and require regular visits to customer sites around Scotland.

Key Accountabilities :

  • Ensure that new business sales targets are met for business unit solutions and services.
  • Focus on strategic new business opportunities.
  • Support the business unit and wider Sword group in managing and winning tactical sales opportunities.
  • Work closely with business development team members to ensure their optimised contribution to the company as well as their own personal progression.
  • Identification of new business development opportunities within target markets.
  • Work closely with marketing and pre-sales personnel to ensure new business opportunities are managed effectively and messaging is in-line with industry trends.
  • Developing & maintaining relationships with key industry decision makers.
  • Update and maintain CRM

Requirements

  • We are looking for a Business Development Manager with a proven track record developing new business where you will have a strong network of contacts
  • Ability to develop and execute complex sales strategies
  • Extensive experience in complex 'new-business' software/IT sales to the sector market or equivalent
  • Experience of structured sales methodologies recognised to be suitable for managing complex sales. E.g. Solution Selling, SPIN, Strategic Selling, Power Base and MADKAM
  • Work closely with the Business Unit Director and Sales Lead taking our propositions to market with a focus on new business development and cross selling to other Sword Group customers
  • Help organise and attend industry customer events
  • A sound understanding of IT related service provision with proven track record of managing large and medium complex accounts.
  • Commercially focused, articulate and possess the ability to think strategically.
  • Develop strong professional relationships with prospects and customers to ideally achieve "Trusted Partner" status
  • Engage in a range of sales activities with established and prospective customers to identify, win and retain business, in line with the execution of broader commercial strategy
  • Lead commercial and technical sales activities through collaborative working with Technical Leads and pre-sales
  • Ownership and Influence of input into the tender response process, ensuring that RFI's, RFP's and proposals are delivered in a timely manner and with accurate costing for delivery to a broad range of customers
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships at multiple levels with internal and external stakeholders
  • Working with internal delivery teams to ensure delivery of high-quality services to customers
