Richmond Pharmacology is a leading Contract Research Organisation (CRO) specialising in early-phase clinical trials for pharmaceutical and biotechnology sponsors. The Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our team. The Business Development Manager will play a pivotal role in acquiring new business from both existing and new pharmaceutical and biotechnology sponsors. You will work closely with our teams to develop new sales strategies, increase demand, and maintain our commitment to delivering excellent service while complying with regulations. This position requires a candidate with a proven track record in the industry, excellent relationship-building skills, and the ability to identify and capitalise on business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Acquisition:

  • Develop and execute strategies to drive measurable sales growth and new revenue generation from pharmaceutical and biotechnology sponsors.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement plans to increase existing business and capture new opportunities.
  • Identify and manage potential new accounts, establishing and fostering mutually beneficial long-term partnerships.
  • Engage with clients to provide seamless solutions.
  • Lead and support cross-functional selling opportunities.

Industry Expertise:

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry.
  • Monitor industry trends, changing regulations and other emerging opportunities, keeping senior leadership informed.
  • Provide strategic solutions to mitigate the impact of industry changes on business objectives.

Opportunity Cultivation:

  • Collaborate with internal teams to tailor proposals and presentations to meet client needs.
  • Contribute to the development of relevant marketing material and activities.
  • Represent the company professionally at conferences and industry events.
  • Coordinate account start-up and service delivery when new business is secured.

Reporting and Systems:

  • Effectively utilise the company's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to manage leads, opportunities, and client interactions.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to business development targets.
  • Provide regular and comprehensive reports to senior leadership on progress against set targets.
  • Provide market insight and input into commercial tools, programs and processes.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in the life sciences field or relevant experience
  • Proven track record of success in business development within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector.
  • Strong understanding of clinical trials and the drug development process.
  • Contract and negotiation experience.
  • Strong analytical capabilities that can assess and understand profitability of customer relationships, to optimally form partnerships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Experience leveraging CRM systems for business development activities.
