Barnardo's works in partnership with Lincolnshire County Council to deliver its Leaving Care Service for young people aged 16-25.
We work in partnership with children's services to work towards developing and delivering an outstanding service for Care Experienced Young People.
Whilst the leaving care contract is currently delivered by Barnardo's this will transfer into Lincolnshire County Council (children's services) from April 25 and the successful applicant will transfer employer at this stge.
We are currently looking to recruit a Team Manager who will be based at our Peterborough office on a full-time basis. The post is offered as a permanent post.
There is an expectation that Team Managers will be required to travel across the region and where the service need requires.
You will be joining an established management team who will be able to offer peer support and mentoring.
Initial Specific Responsibilities
Barnardo's have been delivering the Leaving Care Contract on behalf of Lincolnshire County Council and have a strong partnership with the Council and partner agencies. We are currently working with Children's Services on a Leaving Care Service Improvement Plan that will see the service develop and transition into the Local Authority in the next 6 months. We're keen to not only continue to offer a service to our 16-21-year-olds but continue to develop an enhanced service for those Care Experienced Young People aged 21 - 25.
The post holder will have supervisory responsibility for the Leaving Care Workers the majority of whom are based at our Peterborough Office
Supplementary Information
- The post holder must have an excellent working knowledge of Children in Care and Care Experienced Young People.
- Experience of chairing meetings, working in partnership with other agencies and staff supervision / coaching / mentoring is essential.
- Experience of working with Looked after Children and Care Leavers is essential.
- Experience of working with the Signs of Safety programme is desirable.
- Knowledge of managing high risk cases and recognizing safeguarding issues is essential.
- Performance Management, allocation and auditing skills form a significant part of the role.
- Use of IT is significant and candidates must be able to use and maintain client record systems.
- Ability to plan work, prioritize tasks and time management is key.

Person Specification
- Must have experience of coaching / mentoring or supervising staff.
- Must be able to adapt management style dependent on the given situation.
- Good working knowledge of working with Children in Care and Care Leavers and an understanding of statutory requirements.
- Must have a good understanding of performance monitoring.
- Experience of prioritizing work and delegating tasks
- Experience of partnership working.
- Demonstrate good IT Skills.
- Experience of chairing meetings both with internal partners but also partner agencies.
- Be able to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
