Associate Director - Building Surveying

Are you an experienced and commercially astute Associate Director looking for a dynamic role within a leading global real estate firm? We are seeking an MRICS qualified professional to join our London Technical Due Diligence team. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver commercially focused building consultancy services to a diverse portfolio of investor and corporate occupier clients across the UK and EMEA, ranging from single assets to large portfolio and platform deals.

The Opportunity

This role offers a chance to lead and assist in the successful implementation and delivery of professional building consultancy advice. You will manage client relationships and project teams, ensuring profitable and timely delivery of building surveying instructions, while actively collaborating with other CBRE departments to foster business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and Deliver: Take a leading role in providing professional building consultancy advice, particularly for technical due diligence instructions and general building surveying.
  • Project Management: Manage client relationships and project teams to ensure the profitable and timely delivery of building surveying instructions.
  • Business Development: Collaborate with CBRE colleagues and departments to strengthen relationships and identify new business opportunities.
  • Technical Expertise: Undertake a range of projects including, but not limited to:
    • Building surveys for investment or occupational purposes.
    • Defect analysis and provision of commercial advice to clients.
    • Preparation and negotiation of Schedules of Dilapidations for both landlords and tenants.
    • Development of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules.
    • Lead Consultancy and Contract Administration roles.
  • Value Creation: Proactively seek opportunities to add value, delivering client solutions that consistently exceed expectations.
  • Team & Department Contribution: Positively contribute to the team and department's business plan, assisting in achieving its objectives.
  • Team Building Build and manage project teams with the appropriate mix of experience, skills, and commerciality to effectively deliver client advice.
  • Compliance: Adhere to CBRE's policies, management systems, and Quality Management procedures

Person Specification

Qualifications & Experience:

MRICS qualified with a minimum of 3 years of relevant post-qualification experience.

Proven experience in technical due diligence for investment and occupier purposes, dilapidations (landlord and tenant), contract administration, refurbishment works, and maintenance advice (PPMs).

Skills & Attributes

Communication: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and written skills; articulate with strong attention to detail.

Client Focus: Ability to build, develop, and maintain strong business and client relationships. Possesses a professional, knowledgeable persona and strong business acumen.

Teamwork: Able to work effectively as part of a team and within multi-disciplinary project groups, supporting colleagues.

Organization: Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage own workload effectively within agreed timeframes.

Leadership: Confident, assertive where required, with the ability to delegate while maintaining accountability and ensuring successful delivery.

Market Knowledge: Good appreciation of professional and project building surveying matters, with an understanding of the local and wider property market and CBRE's services.

Business Acumen: Ability to contribute to business development activities.

Flexibility: Flexible approach to work and willing to travel throughout the UK and EMEA as required.

Mobility: Full driving license.
