To profitably develop a broker panel of preferred broker partners, to support the achievement of the business plan.
About the Department & Team:
The Business Development team are responsible coordinating the strategic and day to day trading relationships with brokers and clients of LSM London. We focus on key strategic relationships, initiatives and opportunities and work closely with underwriting, claims & operations to optimise broker performance with LSM and ensure profitable growth across multiple lines of business.
Key Responsibilities:
- With the Head of Broker Management, the Business Development function and relevant product line Underwriters, agree and execute strategies for the development of business.
- Build, manage, and maintain external relationships with multiple brokers across FinPro lines.
- Create and maintain relationship matrices reflecting yours and internal stakeholders broker relations.
- Confidently articulate the LSM strategy to broker partners and internal stakeholders.
- To implement the broker management strategy as agreed with the Head of Broker Management Development, London Executive and Underwriters, across FinPro lines.
- Deliver a first-class service in respect of business forecasting and result analysis.
- To monitor the implementation of business plans, and the performance of brokers against targets, recommending appropriate development focus or remedial action, as required.
- To contribute to the targeting of corporate entertainment to ensure 'best spend' where business needs developing/boosting.
- To participate in ensuring company representation at all major events, and also at informal functions.
- To collaborate with underwriters to develop pipeline that fits with company appetite; to assist with renewal defence negotiations and new business pitches.
- To keep up to date with broker changes e.g., joiners, appetite, wins/losses and notify wider Business Development team and Underwriters.
- Keep abreast of market changes and competition and feed back to the business.
- Performance manage underachieving brokers in conjunction with Head of Broker Management and Underwriting Managers.
- Identify and manage cross sell opportunities new/ existing clients, collaborate with other members of the business development team underwriters and client managers.
- Product Development- identify and help bring new products/ distribution models to market.
- Utilise Salesforce for data capture, insights and as a cross sell and client management tool
- Adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements forms part of your role, and the demonstration of behaviours as set out in the Conduct Risk Policy, as they relate to your role, is core to LSM's commitment to our Liberty Values, placing customers at the centre of our business and behaving with integrity. Skills and Experience:
- Capable of producing and managing challenging Broker development plans.
- Fully PC and technologically literate. Salesforce an advantage.
- ACII qualification desirable, but not essential.
- A sufficient level of numeracy and ability to compile and analyse revenue and other data, drawn from a range of systems.
- An understanding of Retail insurance with a good level of London market awareness.
- Experience of business development/ account management in any sector.
- A clear understanding of the company's strategic objectives, and how we seek to deliver these through operational plans.
- Strong interpersonal/influencing skills, with the ability to develop and maintain external relationships.
- A team worker, able to establish and maintain relationships with, and the trust of, underwriting, claims and support services.
- A self-starter, with initiative, drive, the ability to devise creative solutions, solves problems and follow through to achieve results.
- Effective communication and presentation skills - capable of producing and delivering effective presentations.
- The ability to establish and develop strong relationships at all levels within the Broker market, and with intermediaries, maintaining a good knowledge of their structures, philosophy and business objectives.
