We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer specialising in HV Substations and Lines , Knowledges in Renewable Energies in UK and an understanding of working in BIM enviroments to join our UK Transmission and Distribution team. This role focuses on delivering cutting-edge HV design solutions for renewable energy systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), grid connections, and private networks.
You'll collaborate with a diverse range of clients, including major utilities and global industrial stakeholders, to deliver projects that integrate renewable energy and energy storage into future-ready power systems.
This role is UK-based, with flexibility to work remotely and support international teams across Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop primary plant layouts for HV substations, ensuring innovative and efficient designs.
- Specify HV equipment and ancillary systems for energy storage and renewable generation projects.
- Provide engineering expertise through all project lifecycle stages: feasibility studies, FEED, detailed design, and site construction monitoring.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, structural, environmental, geotechnical, and protection & control disciplines.
- Deliver projects utilizing new technologies such as energy storage, HVDC systems, smart grids, and waste-to-energy solutions.
- Provide professional engineering services to clients in the UK and internationally.
Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
- Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering, ideally with or working towards Chartered Engineer status.
- Extensive experience in the power transmission and distribution industry, specifically in HV substation solutions (110kV to 400kV).
- Proficiency in developing technical specifications for AIS/GIS substations and associated primary and secondary equipment.
- Experience across all project lifecycle stages, from design to commissioning.
- Deep understanding of regulatory and client-specific health and safety requirements for HV systems.
- Proven ability to prepare technical reports to a high standard in English.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Experience in designing overhead line systems for transmission networks.
- Expertise in HV cable systems design (minimum 110kV).
- Site experience in construction, testing, or commissioning of HV systems.
- Proficiency or Knowledge with engineering tools, including CDEGs,ETAP, PLS-CADD, DIGSILENT.
- Knowledge of control and protection systems design.
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
