THE ROLEBritish Patient Capital ("BPC") is a commercial subsidiary of British Business Bank ("BBB"), who's long-term vision is for more home-grown and fully funded high growth companies to fulfil their potential to be players on the global stage.

In this role you will be managing the portfolio of venture and venture growth funds and direct investments or similar structures from our core investment programme, as well as the Life Sciences Investment Programme ('LSIP'), which invests in later stage Life Science funds; and, Future Fund: Breakthrough, a direct investment programme investing into deep tech and life science companies.

You will become a key part of the team responsible for the ongoing management of portfolio activities across BPC funds and direct investment programmes, and also be required to lead on all aspects of portfolio management through the lifecycle of the programmes and the delivery of insight into BPC's portfolio to inform stakeholders and support investment decision making.

This will require you to work across the range of activities of BPC, working with investment and portfolio management colleagues based in the Sheffield and London offices, liaising internally with risk, finance, and legal and externally with fund managers and portfolio companies.

The following activities will form part of their day-today responsibilities:

  • Financial and portfolio analysis
  • Financial modelling
  • Portfolio monitoring and reporting

With good commercial judgement and the ability to handle large and complex data sets and turn these into meaningful insights, you will also be comfortable presenting to a variety of stakeholders. You will have significant experience working within Venture Capital or Private Equity, as well as experience of reporting and analysis of fund and direct investments or similar structures, and of providing relevant insight in an accessible format to a wide variety of stakeholders. Experience of operating within or advising SMEs in a financial capacity is also desirable.
