Job summary

An opportunity has been created due to an internal promotion and we are looking for an experienced, highly motivated midwife to lead our Birmingham Womens alongside birth centre team; someone who demonstrates strong leadership skills and is passionate about midwifery-led care. Someone who can implement the local and national recommendations. You must have experience of working across all clinical areas in maternity.

You will work closely with the Managers of both our Delivery Suite and our Homebirth and Continuity Teams to ensure the Birth Centre operates effectively and efficiently and that high quality care is provided. You will work closely with the Matron for Intrapartum Services and the Consultant Midwife and will demonstrate a sound clinical knowledge base.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Provide proactive and effective leadership
  • Work in partnership with women and their families
  • Work collaboratively as a member of the Multidisciplinary team
  • To complete audits, KPI, appraisals, sickness review and rota management
  • To take part in quality improvement projects
  • To support staff in achieving their best potential

As a large Trust we also have our dedicated Continuity of Carer teams, a Fetal Medicine Department and a range of specialist midwives across the service including diabetes, haematology, sonography, NIPE, practice development, fetal monitoring and screening.
