Biobank Senior Data Analyst

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

About us

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Data Analyst to manage the KHP Cancer Biobank LabVantage system, which holds sample-related data from more than 45,000 cancer patients attending Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Trust. The KHP Cancer Biobank is an extensive sample and data resource that supports local, national and international research. There is close integration with other databases and collaboration with core IT staff, academic and commercial researchers.

The LabVantage system needs to be adaptable to reflect clinical practice whilst retaining a formal change control procedure to meet quality management requirements. Hence, customisation and development is ongoing to meet the needs.

The post is based within KHP Cancer Biobank, part of the School of Cancer and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

About the role

The successful candidate will manage the KHP Cancer Biobank LabVantage database and data integration with other clinical and research data sources at both King's College London and Guy's and St Thomas's NHS Trust. Initially, the postholder will be responsible for configuring and importing the existing Head and Neck Cancer Biobank data into LabVantage and to work closely with the clinical data teams to ensure output can be combined for subsequent research use.

The Data Analyst will need to configure LabVantage to enhance functionality as required, to reflect changes in clinical service and sample collection. They will interact with central, clinical and research IT teams and other cancer-related data analysts to provide a reliable and reactive database service to the Cancer Biobank and its users. As the role interfaces with both clinical and research data, there is a robust approach to information governance and security, with defined data transfer pathways.

The role will require communication of complex information, which may be to staff, students or external parties with limited IT knowledge. Likewise, the postholder may need to interpret clinical data requirements into a database solution.

The postholder will be expected to keep abreast of comparable systems, identify any potential shortfalls and be able to make a justifiable business case for future development.

This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract for five years (funding renewed annually).
