Bid Manager

North East & Yorkshire

Galliford Try Building North East and Yorkshire is looking to add to their already successful Team with the addition of a dedicated Bid Manager. As Bid Manager you will take responsibility for Pre-Contract Bid Management and Key Contract Management.

Ideally, you will based in or around the North East area we have offices in both Gateshead and Leeds.

What you will be doing:

  • Analyse PQQ and Tender documents and resource and manage a suitable bid team to deliver the bids.
  • Support construction management to achieve their continuous improvement goal at all levels across the bid.
  • Arrange and lead tender review meetings and report to the business Unit Directors on progress.
  • Manage direct staff within the Pre contract bid teams and externally with Designers as required.
  • Plan, co-ordinate, maintain and develop staff levels to effectively undertake current and prospective workloads.
  • Provide operational teams with clearly defined bid responsibilities.
  • Provide input to enhance tender opportunities and develop effective communication with Pre-Construction process.
  • Ensure continuing feedback on contractual/commercial developments, outlining positive and negative issues identified during delivery, with a key focus upon risk management.
  • Assist construction management (following award) to establish contacts with client staff and attend pre-commencement meetings.
  • Assist with initial procurement planning and strategy, optimising the approach towards risk management.
  • Ensure prompt, accurate measurement and submission of valuations/final accounts.
  • Periodically carry out comprehensive site audits to ensure high standards of commercial controls are maintained.
  • Review the financial out-turn of a project at the earliest opportunity.

About You:

  • Industry specific knowledge of Bid Managing within the Construction market.
  • Proven track record in the sector or similar role, preferably with a main contractor.
  • Excellent written English and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to meet time pressures to deliver high quality submissions on time.
  • Excellent organisational skills and a collaborative attitude.
  • Adaptability and drive to progress the role into other areas including Business Development as and when necessary.
  • A naturally inquisitive nature to challenge ideas and provide innovative solutions.
  • Display a creative flair in their writing and ensuring high standards of accuracy and document control.
  • An understanding of the importance of work winning strategies/themes/differentiators and their application
