Befriending Volunteer Visitor - Woodley, Reading

Are you a kind and patient person? Can you spare some time, just 6 times a year to visit and make a huge different to a person with a learning disability?

We support a 74-year-old year old lady in Woodley, Reading who would like for somebody to visit her every two months for company and friendship.

She enjoys time at home, watching her favourite TV programs and would love for a friend to enjoy doing this with her. She loves cuddly toys and she has a large selection of these. She loves the feel of them.

She enjoys a trip out to the local coffee shop accompanied by her support team.

When & where do I need to be available?

  • Visits will be every 2 months and can be during the week or weekends.
  • Visits will last around 1 hour.
  • Visits will take place at her home initially

You would need to be:

  • A person with good communication skills
  • Kind
  • Patient
  • Engaging
  • Passionate about supporting people with a learning disability
  • Over 18 years old

We offer a lifelong befriending service for people with learning disabilities. Matching the skills and interests of passionate visitors with the specific hobbies and interests of individual people with a learning disability.

Our visitors visit six times a year to create a 1-2-1 connection, offer companionship, encourage people to do the things they enjoy and check-in on their wellbeing.

In many cases, our visitor is the only person in someone's life who isn't paid to be there for them.
