Job overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Bank Senior Band 6 Orthoptist at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Trust.
This position is a Bank position.
The days are weekend or week day dependent on the needs of the service.
All applications from overseas welcome but professional registration is required.
Main duties of the job
- To provide orthoptic services as an autonomous practitioner within Sherwood Forest Hospitals.
- To assess, diagnose and manage the treatment of patients referred to the orthoptic service.
- To act as a source of expertise on the management of ocular motility and vision development disorders to patients, carers, consultants and other health professionals.
- To assess and manage patients referred to the Orthoptic stroke service.

- Batchelor of Science in Orthoptics BSc(Orth), BmedSci(Orth), and/or Diploma from the British Orthoptic Council (DBO) or equivalent qualifications
Desirable criteria
- Teaching certificate:- demonstrator/City & Guilds 730 or equivalent qualifications
Further Training
Essential criteria
- Continuing Professional Development
Desirable criteria
- Low Vision Therapy course
- Biometry training
Experience

- Experience of clinical placements
