We are recruiting Healthcare Assistants to work on our Healthcare Bank at Goole and District Hospital. You will be supporting the teams on the Medical, Surgical, Neuro rehab and Outpatient departments.
As a Bank Healthcare Assistant, you will provide high quality patient centered care in a safe clinical environment. You will learn new skills while being supported by the practice development team, the bank team and have the ongoing support of the area you are working in. If you are new to the Trust you will undertake a week-long induction There will be opportunities to develop and gain transferable skills for your future career - which may include a pathway into nursing.

A level 2 qualification in Clinical Healthcare Support is desirable but not essential as you will be supported to achieve this once in post via an apprenticeship, you will remain on band 2 salary while undertaking this qualification.
The majority of areas require shift working, which includes days and nights over 7 days, working on the bank will allow you more flexibility around your working patterns.
Main duties of the job
- To maintain the highest possible standards of compassionate and professional patient centred care with particular attention to privacy and dignity.
- Assist patients with personal care, hygiene and sanitary needs, ensuring privacy and dignity is maintained at all times.
- Assist in meeting patients' nutritional needs, including non-oral nutritional and fluid intake. Ensure that patients who require assistance at mealtimes have an appropriately coloured tray to identify they need help and are assisted with eating and drinking.
- Where identified in the plan of care, ensure that food and fluid intake and output are accurately documented on appropriate patient charts.
- Assist in skin and pressure area care to prevent pressure ulcers developing. Under the supervision of registered nurses, ensure patients are helped to move position to prevent discomfort and / or pressure ulcers developing.
- Assist patients with safe mobilisation according to their plan of care and where appropriate seek help from other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Utilise appropriate moving and handling equipment to reduce the risk of injury to the patient and themselves.
- Assist in supporting rehabilitation and therapeutic activities for patients as appropriate.
- Assist registered nursing staff in the taking and recording of vital signs as per the patient's plan of care.
- Communicate any changes in the patient's condition to the nurse / midwife in charge

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- An NVQ/QCF Level 2 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare Support or a commitment to undertaking and successfully completing available training and education once in post and within an agreed timeframe.
Desirable criteria
- IT skills
- Has undertaken some recent study
- Level 2 in English and Mathematics or equivalent
Occupational Experience

- Understanding of the needs of patients in a care setting
- Has a sound understanding of the need for confidentiality
