Education

Essential criteria

  • Education to degree level.
  • Post graduate management qualification or equivalent experience.

Desirable criteria

  • Masters in relevant subject.
  • Management qualification.

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Strong understanding of the health and care sector including operational management within an acute trust.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of operational processes and the management of large groups of staff.
  • Understands admissions and outpatient services and processes.
  • Understands admissions and outpatient services and processes.
  • Strong understanding of governance including Complaint Handling, management of incidents and risk.
  • Financial awareness and knowledge of managing budgets effectively.
  • Knowledge of motivation, change and project management techniques.
  • Clear understanding of the surgical patient pathways within the NHS.
  • Knowledge of Integrated Care Systems and partner collaborative working.
  • Understanding of national policies / guidance relating NHS.
  • Detailed knowledge of NHS performance standards.

Desirable criteria

  • Understanding of relevant national guidelines and GIRFT recommendations.
  • Current NHS policy including frameworks, NICE guidelines.

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Previous operational experience within an NHS acute hospital setting.
  • Evidence of working successfully with clinical staff in delivering services.
  • Experience of using numerical analysis in problem solving.
  • Experience of successful change management, including reviewing services, writing redial action plans and where requiring, providing business cases for future investment.
  • Needs to have a thorough understanding of and commitment to equality of opportunity and good working relationships both in terms of day-to-day working practices, but also in relation to management systems in the area.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of audit / benchmarking.
  • Experience in management of human and financial resources.
  • Experience of working within a collaborative/system partnership.
