Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder is expected to participate on the commercial contract discussions on behalf of the STP Pathology.
This will include negotiations with outsource contractor, external bodies, both NHS and non-NHS on the strategic financial and contractual implications

Education and qualifications
Essential criteria
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL).
- Evidence of continuous professional development
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Specialist knowledge in writing and managing contracts
- Understanding of national and local priorities.
- Significant experience of health service and procurement systems.
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of the NHS including the political and business agenda.
- Knowledge of NHS finance policy and NHS legislation.
- Experience at Senior Management Level in an acute hospital within the NHS or other large complex multi professional organisation.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of contract negotiation and advice
- Experience of contract drafting and commercial practices.
- Experience of manipulating, analysing and reporting data
- Experience of multi-disciplinary team working
Desirable criteria
- Ability to work with staff at all levels, with specific ability to work with senior teams
- Experience of investigation and analysis into financial issues including evidence of detailed and precise report writing skills.
- Experience of delivering training.
