Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated, dynamic and committed individual to lead the nursing team on Neuro Rehab Centre .

The NRC has 14 Neuro Rehab beds. The person we want for this role needs to be able to be flexible and able to implement changes quickly and efficiently. These are challenging times and therefore the post holder has to have a level of resilience and is able to manage change effectively.

We are looking for someone who is an enthusiastic and committed professional with the passion and drive to provide the highest quality care to their patients. We work very closely with our Neuro Clinicians, and all of our allied health care professionals to ensure the care of our patients is dignified and in tune with what is required for these patients and their families.

The role will provide an excellent opportunity for the right individual to lead this team, delivering excellent care to patients with complex neurological needs. As part of the Medical Specialty division you will be well supported by the Head of Nursing, Matrons, CPE and experienced ward leaders.

Main duties of the job

As the senior leader on the ward, you will be responsible for the day to day running of the ward, to take charge and work alongside your team.
Maintain effective working relations with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
Ensure accurate and comprehensive nursing records are maintained using appropriate written and electronic documentation. undertake all nursing procedures in accordance with trust policies and ensure that these procedures and policies are understood and adhered to by all staff, within own management responsibility.

Measure patient acuity and/or dependency to inform evidence-based decision making on staffing and workforce, making sure the ward is staffed safely.
Supervise junior staff, or unqualified staff, in all aspects of care and within the sphere of competency.
You will be responsible, with the matron, for carrying out risk assessments according to the Clinical Governance / Clinical Risk Strategies.

You will be responsible for ensuring effective mechanisms are in place so that all clinical and non-clinical incidents, including serious incidents are properly reported, investigated and changes made to avoid recurrence.
To lead on discharge planning and flow of patients working with the bed managers, ensuring optimal bed allocation.
Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Professional Conduct and Scope for Expanded Practices for Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors.
