Person specification

Education and qualifications:

Essential criteria

• MPharm (or equivalent overseas degree).
• GPhC registration.
• Certificate in Pharmacy Practice (or equivalent).

Desirable criteria

• Diploma in Pharmacy Practice (or equivalent).
• Independent Prescriber.

Knowledge:

Essential criteria

• Good clinical practice knowledge.
• Can show appropriate applications of clinical knowledge and effective pharmaceutical care skills.
• Understanding of national and local pharmacy issues.
• NHS organisational structure.
• IT Literacy including word processing, e-mail and use of the internet.

Desirable criteria

• A solid grounding in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice (medicines information, aseptic services, ward services and dispensing).

Experience:

Essential criteria

• Post qualification experience in hospital pharmacy.
• Experience in providing clinical Pharmacy services.
• Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrate the ability to appropriately recommend, substantiate and communicate therapeutic options for patients.

Desirable criteria

• Significant post qualification experience in hospital pharmacy.
• Project management.
• Training Pre-reg Pharmacists and Junior Staff.
• Audit/research and development.
