Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Assist the anaesthetist. Plan and organise equipment for operating list. Communicate within the MDT. Participate in service improvements and audit. Leadership role when holding the emergency bleep. Main confidentiality and dignity. Understanding of escalation policy.

Education and qualifications

Essential criteria

  • First level registration with the NMC ODP registration.
  • Evidence of professional development

Desirable criteria

  • Working towards a degree
  • ILS/ALS.
  • Post-registration education programme related to speciality

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Up to date knowledge of relevant political and professional issues in health care.
  • Understanding of principles of budget management

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of developing care pathways

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Considerable experience within the speciality
  • Teaching and facilitating experience
  • Commitment to clinical effectiveness and evidence based care
  • Experience as a Band 5
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance & Benchmarking

Skills and ability

Essential criteria

  • Ability to articulate a vision for theatre practitioners
  • Ability to command the confidence of colleagues
  • Effective team working and facilitation skills with an ability to work autonomously as appropriate
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to write clear, concise and relevant reports, communication orally and in written form with

  • Computer literate
  • Experience of evaluating clinical practice using
