Detailed job description and main responsibilities
• To facilitate annual appraisal and personal development planning for members of the Occupational Therapy Team.
• To supervise members of the Occupational Therapy Team providing professional guidance and advice.
• To actively participate in the education and training of Occupational Therapy staff as appropriate including leading on specific mandatory training initiatives e.g. manual handling, infection control, child protection, health and safety and topics related to your clinical area.
• As Practice Placement Educators to deliver pre-registration training to Occupational Therapy students within the clinical setting. To participate in the training of students and staff from other professions as appropriate
• To be responsible for the advancement of personal skills and knowledge in a clinical and managerial context and to attend post registration training in order to maintain own and others CPD.
• To participate in recruitment and retention of Occupational Therapy staff as necessary.
• To participate in the induction of Occupational Therapy Staff
• Deliver education and training to Occupational Therapy staff as part of Team Development training and/or cascading of information following training received.
• Undertake appropriate training and development to maintain high quality of service including Team Development training
• To participate in post-graduate training as appropriate
• To actively participate in the training of students and staff from other professions.
• Take responsibility for maintaining up to date Mandatory training
• To participate in research and development projects as opportunities arise.

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • HCPC
  • Diploma / BSC hons Occupational Therapy

Desirable criteria

  • Practice Educators course
  • Evidence of post graduate Training treating Neurology conditions

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Recent Experience as a Band 5 level Occupational Therapist within Neurology
  • Evidence of appropriate use of clinical Interventions and implementation of core skills

Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of clinical experience treating patients with Neurological conditions
  • Evidence of educating others within a clinical setting
  • Computer and IT skills

Communication and Relationships

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrates effective written, Verbal and non verbal communication
  • Demonstrates effective team working skills

Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of implementing leadership skills
  • Evidence of advanced communication training

Analytical and Judgement skills

Essential criteria

  • Evidence of flexibility, initiative and awareness of risk
  • Awareness of self and own abilities

Desirable criteria

  • Involvement in Quality improvement projects and Audit
  • Involvement of service development

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

Please note if you are successful in obtaining this position and the post involves regulated activity you will be required to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service check.

The Trust will pay for the check initially and the money will then be deducted from your salary over a three month period commencing on your first month's payment.

The current price of a check is £38 for an enhanced and £18 for a standard check.
